The first target store opened in Roseville, Minnesota, in 1962. The store was originally a discount store focusing on dry goods sales. Over the years, Target has evolved to become a leader in the "cheap-chic" market. The big box store prioritizes selling stylish and upscale merchandise at a lower price. It sells common household goods, clothing, toys, sporting equipment and even food. Target is known for its in-store brands such as Universal Thread, Opalhouse, Cat and Jack, Archer Farms and Goodfellow & Co.
